Julie lives and works in Brisbane, having relocated from England in 2011 with her young family. She has been painting in watercolour and oil for most of her life, however she has also worked in acrylic, pastel and pencil. She enjoys painting nature, wildlife, landscape and flowers.
Julie’s art education has mainly been informal, attending demonstrations workshops and courses where ever possible.
Her biggest influences have been Trevor Waugh for colour, watercolour and oil painting techniques, Pauline Dean for Botanical Art, and John Wilson for Plein Air capture of the Australian landscape.
Julie achieved membership of the Society of Botanical Artists in 2004 (England). She has exhibited many paintings with work being shown in Central Hall Westminster and the Mall Galleries. She has also completed a number of commissions and her work is in private collections throughout the UK, and Australia. Julie had a successful solo exhibition in August 2012 and is now exhibiting in various group shows where she has had a number of successes, including winning the Lethbridge 10,000 Small Scale Art Award in 2014 for an oil painting of leaves.
