Margaret became interested in botanical art around 1999. Since then she has exhibited regularly with BASQ and had work accepted for the inaugural Margaret Flockton Award Exhibition in Sydney in 2004.
Margaret designed the current beginner course in drawing and painting for the Botanical Artists’ Society of Queensland. She teaches at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens and has given workshops in botanical art in Canberra, Warwick and Noosa and at the Tweed Heads Regional Art Gallery.
She does not confine her art to botanical subjects and her work, including photography, has received a number of awards.
Apart from working in traditional botanical techniques she is interested in pushing the boundaries and finding new ways to express her interest in flora while maintaining the botanical integrity of the plant.
