To enable the wider community to view and purchase botanical art, observe artists at work and to be informed about and discuss the art form, the Society holds annual exhibitions of members' work and participates in displays and information sessions with associated groups.
ANNUAL EXHIBITIONS
Two major annual exhibitions - 'Floressence' and 'Botanica' - are held over separate three day periods at venues in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha. Artwork and merchandise sales are available at these exhibitions.
'Floressence', held in the Auditorium mid year, is open to all members and provides an opportunity for artists to present framed and unframed works. The works range from traditional to innovative and may be in a variety of media. A section of the exhibition may be allocated to individual or group projects.
'Botanica' is held in Novemeber/December at the Queensland Herbarium in collaboration with the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha whose Artist-in-Residence also exhibits. The exhibition is open to all members, with a particular section being allocated to student work completed during the year at BASQ classes. Works in this exhibition are unframed.
OTHER EXHIBITIONS
Since its inauguration, the Society has also been invited to hold exhibitions at venues outside the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha. These occasional exhibitions focus on a particular historical or botanical perspective of plants. Some of these exhibitions have included:
-
Redland Museum, Cleveland (2006) "A Brush with History - A Historical Perspective"
-
Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery (2007) "Focus on Flora"
-
Pine Rivers Heritage Museum (2008) "Hays Inlet Festival"

The Society enjoys the opportunity to demonstrate the art form and talk to members of the public about botanical art. Consequently, displays and information sessions are a major part of the Society's calendar.
Some of these have included displays at historical venues such as Newstead House, Ormiston House and at the Opening of the Richard Randall Art Studio at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mt Coot-tha. Other displays and talks have been held in libraries, museums and at the plant shows such as the Society for Growing Australian Plants and the ABC Gardening Expo.
